Burn’s Night Special – Venison Pie

Love that wee poem πŸ™‚ Also known as the Selkirk Grace. For those of you who didn’t know, it was Burn’s Night yesterday and living in Scotland, its absolutely mandatory to celebrate all things Scottish! Last year I made some Cranachan Cupcakes. This year, its all about meat- venison to be precise.

I’ve been quite busy recently and the wee flat is in an absolute mess! I’m going through a rearrange and reorganise phase just now and I seem to be making a bigger mess than usual. Anyway, as space is a premium right now, I didn’t get a chance to take any pics. I did however have a picture of a venison pie I made years ago(same recipe and pots used).

Venison Meatballs & Spaghetti

fussyeater.netThis is a cheat recipe. Something that can be made very quickly after work and without much fuss. The key ingredient – good quality venison sausages. Always, always, always only buy good quality sausages. I cannot stress this enough. Good sausages are a great standby ingredient. Ready to be turned into meatballs, burgers, stews, bolognise/ragu, fried rice, stir fry etc etc.

Oh How I LOVE the farmer’s market!! Got this lovely Venison burger at the farmer’s market in Glasgow on Saturday. It was absolutely pishing it down, we were hurdled under our tiny umbrella and it was still amazing! I never get tired of the farmer’s market. There’s always something new, exciting and different πŸ™‚
